Hey everyone,
First time posting on here but lots of checking it out over the past couple months.
I have just started with this outboard- the hope is to do a full restoration on it. But there’s one problem, the corner on the back is broken off by the previous owner and I don’t have it. This must have happened to someone else over the years so my question is, what can I do? I thought maybe making a form of another of the same motor and trying to make a new piece with jb weld. But that sounds complicated 😆
Any ideas or help here would be much appreciated

They made those motors almost up to 1950. You should be able to locate one in better condition by posting in our classifieds. Doug Penn is another good source. I have seen quite a few of these as parts motors at meets for a good price. JB weld probably would not hold up for very long as that piece hangs out there waiting to be broken off again. Welding or brazing with those alumniweld rods may work, then use JB as a filler. Have fun with your motor, they run pretty good when set up right.

If I can figure out how to. But the part that I’m referring to is the corner of the mufler.

Not a very good view ,,, The motor rests had a hole in them that some used for a steering bar for forward steering with a steering wheel. The one on the starboard was used as an anchor for an accessary water pump kit that was sold for watering lawns. We found it would also draw in a little sand with the water, and dug a pit in the bottom under the motor.

Interesting side note Gary. Was that pump connected to the prop shaft?
