      Hi all,

I"m new to this forum but a long time member of the Northwoods chapter. I very much enjoyed our wet (rain) tune up meet last week in Tomahawk, Wi. I will try to create a profile for myself when I figure it out.

I just received a gift from a friend, an old boat motor he knew I was a collector.

I hope someone can help me find the year of manufacture.

      Goodyear-Sea Bee
      Model# 025-3569
      Serial# 441630
      5hp @ 4000 RPM

I believe it was manufactured by Gale products division of Outboard Marine Corp.

It is very dirty and for now I just want to dump the old at least 25yr old gas and clean it up. My concerns are with the Sea Bee on the sides of the shroud are they paint or decal? And all the lettering on the front, Goodyear Outboard Motors, Stop, Slow, Start, Fast, and Neutral Range are legible and I do not want to loose these. I have in the past just used engine clean and pressure wash for lower units carbs and such but is there something better for cleaning the shroud?

      Thanks, Gene

        It is a 1951-1953

They are decals, so don’t use anything harsh to clean them! I just use an automotive type soap/wash then I put a light coat wax to preserve.

For the engine, leg and such, I use WD40 to wash with.

Thanks Chris, I was thinking early 50’s.

But I was in hopes of finding a list of serial #’s so I can pin it down to the year of manufacture.

Im not sure such a list is in existence? You can sort of figure it out by judging where the serial number fits into that 3 year span, and averaging so many motors a year.
