I have decided to install a kill switch for my ’66 Ski Twin that has magneto ignition. I can use either pair of contacts on the back of the switch, NO or NC.
Is it preferable to wire it such that both wires going to the magnetos from the ignition switch will connect to one another when the kill switch is activated? If not, what is the wisest route to wire the switch properly?
    Thanks

Not sure I understand. Is it an electric start with a key switch? If it is, connect the two kill switch wires to the two "M" terminals on the key switch (also leave the existing wires connected)

On the other hand, is it a manual start? Does it have a stop button? Connect the kill switch wires to it, leaving the existing wires connected.

No stop button? Hopefully, there are two small black wires coming from the bottom of the mag plate. Connect your kill switch to those

NO and NC mean Normally Open and Normally Closed. Now the question becomes what is "Normal". Lanyard attached, or lanyard yanked off? You have a 50% chance of getting it right by guessing. The worst that can go wrong is it runs with lanyard yanked off (WRONG) and won’t run with the lanyard attached. If that is the case, swap the wires.

EDIT: One wire to "common" and other wire to NO or NC

Sorry about the lack of info. It does have electric start with a keyed ignition. There are two terminals on the ignition switch marked "M".
I was unsure if connecting those 2 terminals, when the kill switch was activated, would cause any damage. If I understand your response, doing so will not cause damage.
As for whether to use the NO or NC terminals on the kill switch, I believe I should use the NO because I don’t want that connection to be made unless the lanyard is pulled.
    Thanks
