I know there’s like 6 different 1958 Elgin 35hp model numbers. I’m wondering what are the specific model numbers are for the Skipper? I’m sure there’s a long and a short shaft. Some are the Standard models, some have starters, generators, alternators. What are the numbers specific to the Skipper?? Thanks!

        http://boatspecs.iboats.com/Elgin__35hp … 35br2250hy

        Shows:
        571-5944
        571-5945L
        571-5982
        571-5983L
        571-5990
        571-5991L

I’d guess the "L" means long shaft.
Looking at the individual pages: The first two are recoil start, the rest are reported as electric start.
(all of them have "power steering"!!).

Another source confirms the long shaft, and
says 82 & 83 have electric start and 6 amp generator
and 90/91 have electric start and 20 amp generator

Good info, thank you. Researching for a purchase. So 44 & 45 must be the Standard non Skipper models.
