      Lately i have been barrel testing a couple old neptune outboards. They don’t pump water very well. I have tried raising the water level and removing the prop to help to no avail. Has any body ever rigged up an external pump on the water exit pipes to aid in cooling? It seems that the neptunes are bad for this.

            On the 15A6 motor it would be easy to remove the rubber hose and put a tee fitting there. On the others the copper tubing would have to be disconnected. Might have to start testing them outside the barrel.

                I took an 8 inch piece of 1 inch copper tubing and cut it lengthwise. Heated it up to red hot and quenched with water. Then it was soft enough to form around the water intake. I’ll get a female hose fitting for this and silver brase that to the copper. Then make a gasket to fit. Strap it on with a bungie or what have you, and Viola! Now on to finish the project.

                      Tubs, thanks for showing me examples of your water tube adaptors!!! Pictures help a lot, because I’m primarily a visuals learner.
