i followed eds advice and heated it and knocked it in to the tank.i didnt have a problem with it being dirty,just stuck in the tank.i cleaned up the surfaces good and soldered it back together.seems to be holding really well.fired it up for the first time tonight.runs great.thank you all for your input.i didnt realize there were so many outboard geeks out there like me.haha
