    Yes, you never know what you are getting with a used lower unit…No way of knowing without disassembling it. So, you will want to be sure it is returnable just in case it has clutch dog wear or oil leaks.
    Keep in mind, that you may have shift handle linkage problems, or perhaps a loose shift rod connectors creating problems also….
