The 1937 Elto Ace was the 1-½ horse model, it weighed 22 pounds. No motor cover. The ’48 – ’51 1-½ horse Evinrude Sportsman had side covers and a weedless drive. The 1-½ horse Hiawatha has a small cover over the front of the carburetor. It has a standard right angle drive. . . 😉
The Elto Cub developed ½ horse power and weighed 9 pounds The carburetor was cast as part of the crankcase. The Elto Pal weighed 14 pounds and developed one horse power. The carburetor screwed on to the crankcase. No covers. The Evinrude Versions of these (Mate – Ranger – Sportsman) were a couple pounds heavier because of the added covers. . . 🙂
