I am reasonably familiar with early Kiekhaefer outboards with removable cylinders and water jackets. What other brands shared the same technology?
I was given a crankcase assembly at a meet Saturday
The crankcase has only a center bearing (no reeds)
The bearing is secured in place by 3 pins at 120 degrees around crankcase not single bolt as Kiekhaefer twins.
Kiekhaefer cylinders and water jackets fit well and bolt holes line up
Mercury KD4 crankshaft appears to be exact match except for a slight radius to ensure center bearing is installed right side up
Otherwise cranks are same and center bearing fits both.
It appears to be a motor not made by Kiekhaefer that follows Kiekhaefer design closely
enough to use Kiekhaefer parts.
I was told it might be a prewar Champion.
