Is this the correct grip? It says "Johnson" on both sides.
It’s about 4-1/2" long, or so.
The barbed portion of the handle that the grip goes on,
is about 2-1/2" long, then it goes into a "half round"
      tapered portion.
In the photo with grip installed, it’s only on half way,
up to the taper. My grip was split about 1/2", so I
epoxied it back together. Pretty sure if I force it
over the taper it will split back apart.
      Correct grip, or too long?
      Thanks.

It looks like the correct grip, and it is the right length at 4 1/2". When you put the grip on, it should stop at the "half round" section. That leaves some of the grip unsupported at the end of the tiller handle, and it can flex a little.
