      Gents,

Is the throttle pinion gear aligned properly in this photo, or am I off by one?

      Thanks,
      JP

I’ve had a non running ’53 Gold Pennant 10 for several years now but have never looked under the hood. If you don’t get a reply, I can always go over and take a peek at it.

          It is off by one.

One more question…in setting the points on this model, should the cam follower on the points align with the key way?

I don’t know the answer to that one, but the Universal answer is set them when they are at their widest opening.

On OMC ignition cams the Keyway is at the thickest part because it is less likely to crack if mis-installed. This coincidentally is also the start of the high point of the cam. . . . 😆

Thanks, guys. There is a generic reference to using the key way in the Scott Atwater Service manual, but it isn’t specific to a particular model or magneto option, so I just wanted to double check. Seems about right, but I’ll check a couple other spots along the cam with my feeler gauge just to be safe.
