I picked up the subject motor at Tomahawk for $10 this year.
It looked sad, but I had two similar parts motors that were froze up.
This one turned over and had compression. Turns out that this 1940
version had the new aluminum block with the removable head.
The two 1938 versions had the cast iron block with no removeable
head. Lower units were all the same, which was a good thing as this
motor had a broken casting that the tiller arm attaches to.

One spark plug hole was stripped out. The plugs screw into the
head at an angle. I had a cheap plug hole repair kit hanging
on the wall the last 20 years or so. I had a hard time getting
the tap started in the hole, let along at the right angle.
I got the new insert in, but it’s not seated square. 🙁
Perhaps it won’t matter for little this will get run.
Any chance that a TD-20 head would fit?

I have no rewind, nor the correct rope plate for one.
It came with a "Thor" rope plate with extra holes drilled
to fit a Johnson, and a spacer below it to clear the crank-
      shaft nut.
I had to use a broken rope plate off a LT-38.
May put both on my wish list, and see what’s available for decals.

I put "sparky" terminals on the plug wires, not thinking
about clearance for the rear cover / cowling.
Using J6C plugs, the cover would not button up tight.
Put some shorty CJ6? plugs in it so I could shut the cover.
Are these plugs the same "heat range, but just "shorter"?

      It’s debut run on YouTube……
