I’m no MS39 expert, although I do have one. Like most little engines, they are often found internally worn out, because they have to be run full blast just to stay pointing in the right direction in a gentle summer zephyr. Sometimes mine will start and sometimes it won’t. It will flood easily, which I guess is why it has the spring release choke. It will never start in a million years if I don’t have the carb needle adjusted to exactly 5/8 of a turn out from lightly closed. When I was a kid, I made a spark plug cover for mine, out of fiberglass, based on a picture and soldered the cracks in the tank until the cows came home. I would rather buy better reproductions too, if available.

Long live American manufacturing!
