It’s a fun trip, but one year we had to rough it – the dishwasher on the houseboat broke down mid-week and we had to wash them by hand…..

If anyone is interested, we rent the boat from "Floating Lodges" in Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Canada. It’s a 90 mile drive from International Falls, MN. The owner built the bigger boats from the ground up himself and they are very well equipped. The smaller ones he bought and as they aged, he tore them down to the deck and built them up again, but much better. He includes use of one 16′ Aluminum fishing boat with each rental – I bring a motor for that one. He will rent you a motor if you need. See link below. Click on Our Houseboats and scroll down to see all of them. That double-decker is 60′ long – too much room for us. Our biggest fear is that he will retire some day and sell off the boats. Not sure if anyone else there can afford to buy his operation – he has a lot of lakefront property where he has his docks, shop and office – that property also has room for all us customers to park our vehicles and boat trailers for the week.

The houseboats are powered by 4 cylinder Volvo I/O’s
