Ok, thanks for the help on this. New float acquired. Next question is what location should the float speed nuts be set to allow for proper float positions? ...or is the float to be locked in one positions

Thanks!

Speed nuts? The original cork float uses the two 120813 brass lock clips to hold it in proper position. The clips snap into small grooves on the needle to hold the float in position. When using the Merc floats, I like to drill them slightly smaller size than the needle so they are a snug fit on the needle. This way they can be adjusted up or down as required without slipping on the needle. Replacing the lower lock clip probably wouldn't be a bad idea to as it would help to prevent the float from going too far down on the needle.
Still searching for a rudder and hardware to fit a KOBAN. ☺

Thanks, Mumbles. What you said....lock clips. Better break out the magnifying glass again! Missed the small groove for the clip above the float. Probably didn't push it down far enough to feel the clip seat in. WIll need the magnifier anyway to search the floor for the round brass lock clip that went flying when I removed it. Looks like that is not so critical as an e-ring would work there as well.
