Source for Mercury KF5 Gas Cap?

Postby scsulliv77 » Sat Mar 10, 2018 10:31 pm

Does anyone know a source for a replacement (new or used OEM), or any sort of aftermarket or substitute gas cap for a 1952 Mercury KF5 Super 5 outboard engine? This originally was a red, plastic cap.

I swore I found some replacements online a couple of months ago, but now I can't seem to find them.

I'm unsure of the thread diameter or pitch, or whether this was a common gas cap size on these older motors.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure if this will help or hinder your search. Literature I have says that the same cap was used on the KE4, KE7, KF3, KF7, KG4, KG7, KH7, Mark5 and Mark7.

KF5 fuel tank cap part # 36-23338 A1 (1 3/32" opening)
The correct tank should have a large HEX head filter in bottom of tank.
There is also some loss prevention hardware that goes with the cap.
Filter and hardware may also need replacement.
