      I’m trying to determine what purpose the two holes (circled in red) perform. The two gaskets have corresponding holes in them.

        Two holes, two purposes.

        1: The motor has no seal at the top main bearing. Instead, it has a slinger, which throws any escaping oil off by centrifugal force. Then that oil is sucked back down to the intake manifold via one hole.

        2: The second hole is part of the oiling system to supply oil to the top main bearing. It supplies suction to the middle of the bearing, which draws oil from below.

          Thanks Frank. I enlarged the powerhead diagram and can see the holes in the crankcase. Looks like they are clogged so couldn’t see them.
