Regarding the caps, I'm not sure what the original "orange drop" cap was,
but I've been using these from Digi Key......

Tubs, Regarding the Water Witch crankshaft. I have a "froze-up" Water Witch
I could tear down to compare, should I decide to go that route.
Was laying in bed last night thinking about it, but now that I have
my new main bearings "fit" to the current crankshaft, and
the crankcase hermetically sealed, I decided to hold off on that idea.
Instead, today I tack welded the key in the crankshaft with the
mig welder, then spent a while with the air grinder getting rid
of excess weld.
Put the mag back on, and no spark.
Got the Stevens tester out of winter's hibernation and the coil,
and cap tested good. Re-cleaned the points, and it seemed to
spark great spinning it over. Put the carb and fuel tank back on.
Wrapped the rope around and gave it a mighty pull. Nothing.
repeating that about 25 times, and never fired once.
Before I put the carb back on, I gave the crankcase a good shot
of fogging oil, but I don't think that's the problem.
Squirted gas in the spark plug hole, and still nothing.
Back to the drawing board tomorrow.
If it doesn't run soon I'm sending it back to Wards for warranty work!
