Were all the Challenger 5 1/2s the same specifications with no variations between the production run? Mine is 150J7899 and I understand that this date may be 1950. Although it appears to have been loved enough, I was given this motor with the recoil in bits – can anyone help me figure out if I am missing a part on the recoil please? I managed to recoil the spring, wind the rope in and put the components back together, but there appears to be no fastening to hold the spring, sheave plate and the rest, into the upper cowl, so it stays in-situ when the housing is removed to access the flywheel?
