This is not really an antique outboard motor question so I hope I’m not strictly breaking the rule here. I’m still working on that 85 Evinrude but while I wait for my new trim motor I figured id try to get my fuel gauge working. After doing some investigation I found that it was connected to the trim gauge but the trim gauge is not in use and is getting no power. So on the back of the gauge the wire going to the trim gauge is labeled "+". Where should this go now? Thanks.
If you want the fuel gauge to read only when the ignition key is turned on, connect it to the "Acc" terminal on the key switch. The terminal may be marked "I" instead of "Acc". Same thing.
Thanks Frank, now I have a fuel gauge. No more guessing. I used the plug coming out of the control and ran that up to th positive prong on the back of the gauge. Now the fuel gauge comes on when the key is in the on position. Is this correct?
