      Trying to identify the model and year of this Merc 39 Serial# 1920236. Haven’t been able to find a plate with the model on it. There is a plate with just the serial number. Would like to get a larger Mercury of the same vintage and use both on the boat.
      Any help here would be appreciated.

        Looks like a 1965 or 66.

          66 should have crinkle finish silver decals.65 would be gold crinkle finish decals.

            Thanks to both of you – this motor has silver decals so I’m figuring a 1966.

              my book says Mercury 39 is: sn 1655013 thru 2080068 is years 64-65-66.

                  That serial number is a 1966.
