I have to admit, they were pretty good motors. The racing model was equipped with antifriction bearings and dominated class "A" racing. The racing model was adapted into a portable water pump and many went to the Forestry Service. The Military found them handy during WW2 and many Army/Navy Surplus "Pumpers" found there way into Class "A" racing after the War. (Johnson also made a 60 cubic inch pump [the P 500] which was adapted from Evinrude’s "Storm Boat Motor".) Of course, when they had improved the model KA to be almost perfect, it was replaced by the gearshift equipped QD model in 1949 – starting a revolution . . . 😆
