The Evinrude camp stove was just one of the things that Ole came up with to keep the factory open. Besides the Evinrude labeled Eagle gas cans, they also made a Fishing kit which contained a small Evinrude or Elto outboard, a gas can, a couple casting rods and fishing tackle box. There was also the Lawnboy, a self propelled reel type lawn mower. Ole’s tool designing talents were showcased wen Evinrude offered a electric motor with various attachments that converted it to be a drill press, lath, sander, grinder, router and more. The patents were sold to a company that built and sold the Shop King for many years. When Dad’s 135 cu. in. Ford V-8 60 horse struggled to pull the Evinrude trailer. Irgie Irgins designed a supercharger for it. Dad took one of the prototypes to Dearborn to show Henrey Ford. The idea being Evinrude would supply them to Ford for those who wanted more power. Henrey’s answer was to come out with the 225 cu. in. 85 horse V-8. So Irgie’s supercharger never went into production. It was probably a good decision by Ford. A year or so of trailer pulling and the little engine was shot. The wheels and axel made a fine trailer that hauled boats and cargo all over the country for another 50 years. Dad sold it to an Antique auto collector that wanted the wire wheels. He got enough to buy a new trailer. . . 😆
