OMC drove their impellers with a round pin for many, many years, with no problem. But I have never seen one with a roll pin. Should be a stainless steel pin.

That thing of aligning the key with the piston makes no sense at all to me. Yeah, I’m aware of the bulletin, but it still makes no sense.
