I tried this on an RD 35 HP Johnson once after breaking a bolt off in a puller hole (I don’t think I had hard enough bolts). I then used an automotive brake drum puller and cracked the flywheel – I quit pulling when I saw the cracking start. I now have the OMC puller and it works great.
