Hi Elgin, here’s what I do. If the gasket has the shiny coating on it, I put it on clean and dry. If not, then use Quicksilver Perfect Seal, or another brush on type gasket sealer. This is only to seal up from external water leaks. i am guessing that your gasket is not the shiny type and will need sealer. Hope this helps!
