Need to replace a sea king midget coil...

Postby gjonz » Fri Jul 13, 2018 6:46 pm

I guess there are some articles about using a new coil for Small elto/sea king singles. Mine is a 1 hp Sea King single 1hp. Or if anyone has a coil that would help.

Ether way I’m in uncharted territory and could use some help.

Thanks!

Greg

I believe this is the mag you have.
I don’t know of anyone that has used
another coil in one of them. You would
have to do some measuring but if one
of these isn’t to big it would work.

Nope. Not the same mag. Mine is an early Elto built motor. 1939-ish.

Sorry I should have said that, but thanks.

That model shown is a 1946 or later model. If yours is an earlier model with the soft iron magnets in the flywheel, see Lykes2tinker's Elto Cub Coil post . . . 8-)

Click on the eBay link above the picture.
Like I said I haven't done one yet but shouldn't
be more than cutting off some of the laminates
and making the hole in the ones that are left.
the only thing I'm not clear about is if the place
where the plug wire attaches will work.
