Has anyone tried the paintless dent removal kits that use glue or epoxy to bond a stud to the gas tank then use a slide hammer to pull the dent out? I was wondering if these would work for aluminum tanks without having to cut them open? Thanks.

I tried the glue tabs on a Johnson JW tank that was badly damaged. I was moderately successful. I pressurized the tank a bit with compressed air. be careful if you do this as it is easy to deform the tank. Apply the pressure slowly.

I ended up not using the tank. It would have needed considerable body filling to make it acceptable.

“The boat house” (Tubs) is the tank restoration expert around here, so search for his posts for amazing results that he produces.
