      How important is the Locking Lever in the mid 50’s OMC 25/30’s? I have a 56 Buccaneer the’s missing this part. I looked at a 57 Lark Parts motor I have and it’s missing there too. Is this one of those parts that people discard because it’s more trouble than it’s worth, or should I find a replacement?

        The reverse lock mechanism keeps the engine from popping up under power in reverse. I suppose you can live without it until you need to pour the power on in reverse for that tight/emergency maneuver, I would fix it.
