Hi All. My next problem with the above motor,is the muffler can is missing and I was wondering what you would suggest as a replacement?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Google “oddjobmotors.net” then find Tech tip#3. Good directions for do it yourself.

One more thing. When I make a new outer can, I cut the length (becomes dia.) long enough to lap the ends. Then I seal and copper rivet the lap. This allows you to get a perfect fit and avoids making the original lock joint.Install with seam facing down and slightly turned towards front and it will work and look perfectly.

Thanks Stanley very much for your suggestion…….sounds good!

Any suggestions regarding the material to seal the lap joint?

I was thinking of using Silfos to seal and hold the lap.

              Thanks again

I have some extra brass outer cans I had purchased from an AOMCI member years ago. If you still need one. Contact me if you like. Bob

Thanks very much bkrsdoz for your very kind offer. Unfortunately postage to NZ is now ridiculously high and I would also be worried about it being damaged as it is fairly fragile……one of the problems of living at the “bottom of the world”, so I think I will have a go at making one and see how it turns out…….I will let you know how I get on.

                  Thanks very much once again.
