Motor has good points coils, condensers, carb kit. Starts hard manually. Seems to start at low speed. Looked at the roller to throttle synch. Plate is at end of adjustment. Can I bend the linkage to the carb throttle plate to correct? Also when running heard a light scraping and found the rewind was very loose. Motor was covered with fine powder to granular material. I assume this is from the rewind but saw only one small rub. Also my hood has corrosion and pealing paint could that be the problem? Should I now remove flywheel to see if this powder is on the points?
Wow, any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Others must have had these problems.
When at the two marks I expect throttle plate to just barely start opening. Is that correct? I am thinking that if I had more adjustment on the can plate motor would start at a higher rpm.
That is incorrect. Those are for setting points timing.
The throttle plate should just start to open when the sync pointer, to the left of roller looking at motor, is at mark on cam. NOT when the roller hits the mark on cam, like many other motors.
