      it was with a bunch of outboard parts I came across. I imagine it’s a puller of some sort. anybody know for sure?

        Looks like it would expand something. That screw would interfere with the jaws as it was tightened which would spread them out.

          It could quite possibly be a flywheel and/or carrier puller of some sort. ❓

            I think it goes with a slide hammer. Used for pulling Seals and outer bearing races …

                It’s part of a set for installing and removing upper gearcase bearings.

                  Per the ’76 special tool catalog the #380657 (which can be seen in the pic) is used with slide hammer #380657 to remove propeller shaft bearing cup on 1974-76 9.9 & 15 hp models. Also removes bearing assy #379503 & needle bearing assy #379505 from 1966-68 100 hp outboard gearcases. Also used on stern drives with same applicable gearcases. That’s straight from the book.
                  I have used mine for all kinds of other stuff. It will pull almost any seal you can stuff it into. I have another one I have modified so it goes into a smaller hole. Neat all around tool.
