On the old Evinrudes from the 50’s to 60’s what is the difference between a Yachtwin and a Lightwin? Is it just the name and paint job, or is there more to it?

The Lightwin has the weedless lower unit – the Yachtwin has a right angle lower unit. This corresponds to the JW and JH over on Johsnon. Also the Yachtwin/JH did not come about until the early 1960s.

Lightwin had the weedless gearcase great for small boats and fishing.

Yachtwin had the right angle gearcase used on sailboats for getting out to open water from the docks.

Basically the same motor from the exhaust house on up, except maybe different decalsand such.

That is a 7.5 hp Fleetwin. I would grab that one in a second 😉 . Wonder if it includes the stand ?

I believe that the Yachtwin came with a lower pitch prop, intended for pushing a large displacement hull boat. The motor that I have has a 4-1/2 P X 8" dia. – three blade prop.

Many of the Yachtwins I’ve seen were also set up for remote fuel tank, too, with a fuel pump and fitting on the cowling.
