      Getting ready to try out the Mercury Mark 6 for the first time
      since I owned and gone thru it, and noticed my gas tank’s
      primer bulb is hard as rock! I’m thinking if I could squeeze it,
      it’s going to crack for sure. It’s an Attwood brand bulb, which
      I have faint memories of buying, so it’s at least 10 years old.
      I see they still sell them for $15.00 or so at Walmart.
      Are the $30 & $40 squeeze bulbs elsewhere twice as good….
      that is, remain pliable twice as long?

        I’m not against aftermarket parts as a rule, but I will say that it is worth sticking with OEM primer bulbs for sure. My Mercury and OMC bulbs are soft as new after multiple seasons of use. When I had a couple Attwoods, they would be hard after sitting one winter.

          I am using a Walmart off-brand bulb and after many years of Summer use/Winter layup the first squeeze
          in the Spring takes about all I can muster. But it does give a little and with use limbers up pretty well. Like you, I thought for sure it would split but it has been that way for several years. Just keep using it to see which one of us will give up first!
