      Two Questions this time-

      #1- There was a "Dark Blue 1969-1971" which they used. I have a 1972 9.5, which is also "Dark Blue", but the color might be different, and have a different part number?

      #2 I have a 1977 6 H.P. which uses "1971 to 1977" light blue, 771247. Is there a "Universal Refinish Code" for this color?

      #3 Has anyone compiled a complete list of paint color names, J/E part numbers, and "refinish codes" for all the O.M.C’s, 1950 to 1980?

        You are correct, the dark blue color for the 1972 Evinrudes is actually different than the dark blue used on the 1969-1971 models. Unfortunately, OMC/BRP does NOT do a great job with color/model year descriptions. The light blue color for your 6hp was used from 1973-1977, I think that color is sometimes called "polychromatic blue".
        OMC did start supplying PPG codes for the paint, but this only occurred in the later 80s and could be found in the appropriate service manual. Have you tried the supplier in Florida, he might do a better job.

          #3 I’ve never seen an exhaustive list of paint codes.

          Two companies sell paint for old outboards:

          Here are their lists of available colors:

          Beware! The same names were used in different years for different colors!
          Colors may have varied within model years as well!

            As stated, the label on the can may not represent very well what the actual color of the paint in the can is. For example, I bought several cans of old OMC Light Blue. When I sprayed it, the color was more green than blue.

            Here’s some OMC codes I got from my friendly dealer.
