      For a QD19, no lock washers or other means of keeping bolts from backing out.

        Use an accurate torque wrench, and that’s all it needs.

          Mercury asks to not reuse their locking type nuts on every teardown. Use new ones from the factory.

            When torqueing the rod bolts, along with all the other powerhead components, I use my inch/lbs wrench, and torque in 3 passes, starting with 1/2 the torque value, then 3/4, then the final.

            As Frank stated, nothing needed on bolts other than the proper torque.

              You bring up a good point to tighten in percentages using the pattern suggested by the manufacturer. Been doing that from my 55 Chevy stove bolt 6 head gasket problems. Helps mucho!!
