      are there any specifics to look for when deciding what kind of grease to use when packing boat trailer bearings? I have used "the red stuff" but have no idea if it was right or not. will anything do?

        Red is fine. It’s when they never clean & repack the bearings is when problems happen.

          Bearing buddy’s work great well worth the money keeps the water out IF you use them correctly.

            Yeah, exactly – solid advice. It’s not so much at all about what’s being used, but as to how it’s maintained over time.

            Any sort of modern high-pressure wheel bearing grease will work.. but not after twenty years of regular road use punctuated with occasional but regular immersion, with crap wheel seals.

            Like most of this stuff.. it’s not about the picky minutiae, but simply doing +some+ maintenance before it all dies a hot death.
