January 2, 2020 at 9:13 am #190510My Speeditwin is the last model year, 1950. Didn’t some of the
outboards start switching over to gear oil / lube by then? The gear case is fully jeweled with tapered roller
and ball bearings. I have corn head grease on hand,
so hopefully it’s not too viscous to flow into the bearings.I hadn’t heard of the Super Spindle grease as an option.
Thanks!Prepare to be boarded!
January 2, 2020 at 6:45 pm #190566Buc , I was told to use grease . Valvoline automotive & industrial multi -purpose ..
Added a zerk fitting in the bottom hole ..January 2, 2020 at 6:51 pm #190569The Speeditwin is ready to start processing corn fields, as it
got 107 pumps of corn head grease in the gear case! It’s ready for a test start…….. only five months or so to wait
for open water. I have no reason to doubt if it will run……..
how well, or for how long is another question.Already started on another project…….. a little Champion SF1.
Chose it because it’s been in the way, and much lighter than
the Speeditwin!A before and after photo to hold me over until Spring.
Prepare to be boarded!

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
