Hey everyone, I havent been on here in a very long time but I recently picked up a 1976 Chrysler Hydro-Vee with a 1976 Chrysler 120hp 1209HD outboard.

According to the serial tag it is a 1209HD but when I’m looking at parts diagrams the 1209HD doesnt have a section for the distributor. Are there other 120hp models that didnt use a distributor or is it just an incomplete listing?

I could really use some help so in the future I can make sure to order the correct parts.

Also here is a pic of the serial tag. If there are models without distributors it would make sense that this power head has been swapped since it seems to have been removed at someplace point due to there being clear silicone around the exhaust/ powerhead base gasket area

Can’t get to them right now but I have some Chrysler microfiche, someplace. I will check tonight. So your question is really whether there is another 120 model WITH a distributor? Or do you want verification that YOURS is supposed to have a distributor and your parts diagram is flawed?

Okay, it wasn’t microfiche. It was on Mercury’s dealer site. Don’t know if this will work or not…

If that doesnt work,go to iboats.com,the Chrysler/Force forum. JerryJerry and Nordin are Chrysler gurus.

That’s a much better parts diagram than what I’ve been looking at, thanks.

                    YOURS

And also for my question, my model number is 1209HD which does not show a distributor in its parts listing but my unit has a distributor so I’m trying to find out if it’s been swapped or if some of them just came that way

Ok so heres a new major issue I’ve run in to.

My water pump housing is corroded pretty bad and I’m looking to find either new or used to replace it.

The part number on the housing is 474060. That number comes back to a 77-78 55hp Chrysler.

The part number “required” for my unit is FK500060. These 2 parts do not look the same and even the wear plates are different.

Do I get an identical replacement of what I’ve already got or do I get the mandated part numbers?

Is there really any difference between the 2 pumps? I noticed that there are 2 slots on the wear plate for the 120 and only 1 slot on the 55hp one. I’m at a loss on this so any help would be appreciated

A search for some Chrysler motor parts requires searching by specific motor serial number. Your motor serial number indicates the FK500060 is the correct pump body. Marine Engine doesn’t have one available but does your 474060 pump look like this one? If so, the FK500060 might just be a superceding part number.
