I was given an Eska 3.5. I was going to ding it; but it seemed to be in half-way decent shape. I have never bothered even trying to do an impeller on one of these before, but it turns out to be pretty easy. (Yes, they are air cooled power heads but the leg and exhaust are water-cooled.) I found that a Mercury 47-89980 fits perfectly if you file the keyway in the impeller just little deeper.

Bill, what vintage motors are you talking about… 1970’s?

My inventory list says I have / had two 3.5 hp motors with “Eska”
lower units, with Clinton engines. Not sure if I even still have them,
but will add your info to my notes. Thanks!

I remember finding this style impeller in an Eska once.

Mine looks like that basic design, but the height of it is about HALF of the one in your picture. The info for Eskas online is sketchy at best, but it seems like mine might be a 1968. It’s a 1945-B.

Perhaps one could “double up” two impellers for the tall type.

I have worked on a few Eskas and Clintons, though not recently.  What I recall is either no pump at all, with water circulated from a pickup tube behind the prop, or impellers like the one in the image above.   The Eska and Clinton legs are very similar but I don’t know whether the impellers are interchangeable.

Clinton faded away in the 80s.   Eska shut down around the same time.  Most of these motors, at least the Eskas, were sold by Sears under Gamefisher or Ted Williams brands.  The Sears parts operation is a possible source if still operating.  (The stores are pretty much gone.)  The Eska powerheads were all made by Tecumseh, Clinton made their own.  Some Tecumseh lawn mower engine ignition and carb stuff may be adaptable to outboards.
