I was thinking about making a diaphragm for this little square fuel
pump from the subject motor, instead of spending $100 for a
new OMC one, or $10 for some Chinese junk, but then I seen
      the kit below on EBay.
The EBay ad doesn’t list the 9.5 hp but just about every other motor.
It sure looks like it may be correct, looking at the one I took apart today.
      Anyone know for sure? Thanks.

Sorry, don’t know if that will work or not.  My understanding is that the early versions of this fuel pump can not be rebuilt, but the later ones can.  You have the kit, nothing to lose by trying.

Again, are you sure the pump isn’t working?  Please don’t pull it apart “just because”, chances are good that a pump that was working before the rebuild won’t work afterwards.  It is extremely important to make sure all those pieces maintain their orignal orientation.  Also, many of the pumps have a little arrow indicating “up”, the pump won’t work if the arrow is pointing in a different direction

To clarify, the pump on the motor is working, but it’s been on the motor for 7 years
since I have it, and Lord knows how long before that.
I just wanted to have a good pump ready if needed, so I was thinking about trying
to put a kit in the square pump from my “parts motor”.
I don’t have the kit yet, the photos of the kit were from EBay.
I guess I’ll try the kit and see if it fits the pump.

I installed the $15 fuel pump kit in my spare, little square fuel pump today.
I don’t plan on trying it out anytime soon, but it passes the “Blow Test”
as described by the instructions when I was done.

It was a little nerve racking. The instructions generally “good”, but
it doesn’t me I didn’t get confused at times!

Not sure it will work better than the $12 Chinese fuel pumps,
but the kit material seem to be of good quality.

the main thing to do imho  is to scribe one side with a  felt marker  to refit them as they were.  for springs and  mushrooms  I glue them in place with a touch of Crazy glue  to prevent  these  tricky parts  from  falling over during assembly  or worse…. flying to nowhere 🙂

Not sure what the crazy glue would do to the diaphragm, but
marking it before taking it apart good advice! I took photos,
                and marked it.

the glue does not touch the diaphragm. It goes on the base nipple where the spring rides  and secures it in place  and…on the plastic  mushroom’s  underside  that fits in the Spring.

Tubs, Nothing happens when I click “Reply” on my PM reply,
so here’s my response regarding orientation of the pump inlet
                    and outlet………

                    ———————————

The “running” 9.5 had the older? “diamond” shaped fuel pump.
The parts motor fuel pump that I rebuilt, had the “newer?” style, smaller “square”
fuel pump, so I’m not sure if it’s even possible to put the inlet and outlet
in the same orientation as each other. Different pumps, but same powerheads,
so I “think” I got it back together in the original configuration.
$15 kit, but I’m hopeful it’s than a Chinese pump.

I’ve never used Crazy Glue where I didn’t glue something I wasn’t suppose to,
                      including my fingers, lol

after you loose a spring or a mushroom…you will like  Crazy glue… up to you 🙂
