February 6, 2024 at 10:25 pm #284711Additional rowboat motor activity information regarding the 2024 Constantine Super Meet this coming July 11-14

Time has been set aside in the schedule for late Friday afternoon for the Multi-Waterman Exhibit/Fiasco, during which I’ll be attempting to run five Waterman motors one after the other for (hopefully) a minimum of ten minutes each. Assuming successful demonstration runs are completed, the motors will be removed from my boat and installed on somebody elses so they can run it too. That will take place AFTER I’m done warming the five motors up, at which time other owners of Waterman motors are invited to join us for a group run and parade past the grandstand area.

There will be time set aside EACH DAY OF THE MEET for a rowboat motor parade near the end of the day. The Saturday parade needs to take place at no later than 3:00 PM, as the start time for the annual auction under the tree is being moved up an hour earlier starting this year.

The “Rowboat Motor Un-Race” will be held again this year. Meet organizers will advise on the time slot for that, and we’ll keep you informed. This event involves going through a set course as slow as you can possibly go without stalling. Longest time wins.

We are tentatively talking about an additional RBM running event, and at this point I’m leaning toward making it an actual race … oops, I mean “time trial” where the idea is to use the same course as the Un-Race but get through it as fast as you can, so the fastest time wins.
-
We will also be having a “Rowboat Motor Tug Of War” event. Steve Roskowski has a device built that allows two boats to be hooked to each other transom to transom but not be attached to the motors. Further details will be provided as they are available.
-
We are moving to have the annual “Constantine Cup Event” be run but only rowboat motors will be allowed. NO classics, no Ruddertwins, and on Johnson Light Twins. Rowboat motors only.
-
There will be at least one Rowboat Motor Lecture/Clinic held this year. Probalby a two-part seminar. For the first half, I will probably repeat the “What To Look For When Shopping For A Rowboat Motor” which will morph into a more technical look at the lower unit area of the motor, which is what is usually the most worn out part of a rowboat motor, rusty or beaten up tanks notwithstanding.
Hope this helps make things fun for y’all this July eh.Best,PM T2February 7, 2024 at 8:50 am #284717Good stuff, Chris. I’m really looking forward to this year’s event.
