impeller on 1953 5hp gale hiawatha

      working on restoring this 53 5hp gale, fired up but didn’t pump water, went back into the lower unit and this is what happened, looks like the pin on the shaft sheared off, impeller busted up and anyone know what the piece of metal is with the hole in it? it was in the impeller compartment.

        No clue what the mystery part is or how it managed to get into the water pump.  Looks like a wire clamp of some sort.

        I’ve seen hundreds of impellers like that over the span of my career.

          any idea what that chunk of metal is with the hole in it? found in the impeller compartment, seems like should be part of the busted up impeller
