Hello. New here. I’ve recently acquired a Johnson HD 15 and I’m wondering if the motor is rebuildable. The motor spins and does not appear to be missing anything. I have the motor, tool bag, owner’s manual, and spare prop. Is there a service manual?

March 6, 2024 at 1:13 am #285565Hi Ken,
Everyone here calls this service manual ‘The Bible’. Unfortunately it’s not a free download, but for the $19.98 they ask it’s well worth it.
In my experience it’s likely someone will offer to get you a copy, so maybe hold tight for a day or two.
Good luck and welcome.
Best Regards

March 6, 2024 at 10:53 am #285575Ken if you want to PM me your e-mail address I can send you the “Red Book” that these guys are talking about. It would be sent through a free file transfer service called WETRANSFER.

I am patient. I would like to set this unit next to my 25 Evinrude for trolling.
I will check compression. What is a good pressure?
GC will need a seal. No water just old grease. Motor was stored indoors and hasn’t been on the water for at least 5 decades. I know the original owner. Husband has been gone and wife kept it on a motor cart. It could really use a paint job.
I have discovered the Pochefamily site. Thanks
- I don’t know how to PM.
- As a member, is there a way to search the forums without tabbing through the pages?
Thanks Ken

Searching Forums for Members:
- At the Menu above….go to MEMBERS ONLY/ ACTIVE MEMBER FORUM
- Enter your search terms in the field that appears at the upper left of the page.
- The Similar Search Field that appears on the home page of the site does NOT search the forums; just public areas of the site.
