The 6 flathead screw bolts on the gear case are stuck, it has probably never been off. The motor runs goods the gear case just leaks. I am thinking of putting grease in there, what kind is best?
.. using a 1/4 inch impact driver with a short… forward jolt then reversing usually breaks the bond… if they do not immediatly loosen up don’t force your luck
sometimes freezing or heating the head bolt can help break the bond try seeping in a release agent a few days
For slotted or Philips head screws, I like the hand held “hammer blow” impact drivers. These give you both the loosening torque and most importantly simultaneously the downward force to engage the screw head. Just be sure to use a well fitted driver bit….and a heavy hammer.
Be sure to support the gearcase on the back side. You might blow a hole in the case otherwise. And a little patience, solvent & heat will help as others already stated..
Tubs,
