Just pulled this power head off to change the impeller. Looks like some damage has occurred previously by one of the bolts in the power head resulting in a little groove. Will this leak once a new gasket is installed? Or does it need to be filled in with something and filed flat? Thanks !

In my opinion the location shouldn’t leak unless the bolt whole is a through whole leading out anywhere, but just to be safe I would push some gasket sealer on the gasket in that location or on the whole gasket when you put it on.

if it worries you just JB steel weld it  and file flat

I had a similar chip/groove like this on a ’58 Johnson 10hp.   Clean the area thoroughly with acetone, fill in with some JB Weld, sand or file flush, apply gasket sealer to the gasket and Bob’s your uncle (the other Bob, not me).
