A 1928 Fastwin H, 12 hp, with the above water exhaust, followed me home from Tomahawk.
No carb attached, but there were three carburetors in a box
that came with it.(2) Tillotson MS 12A (has a 1.335″ bore / throttle plate)
(1) Tillotson MS 13B (has a 1.134″ bore / throttle plate)Only the MS 13B with the smaller bore, has the potential of being used, as the
other two have cracked housings, etc.Specs show that the 1928 Fastwin H is 12 HP at 4000 rpms
& that the 1929 Fastwin H is 14 HP at 4000 rpms.Would my smaller bore carb be correct for the 1928 Fastwin,
that has less horse power?Thanks

Thanks, I’ll check out the best looking large bore carb, and
see if it’s salvageable.Prepare to be boarded!
August 5, 2024 at 9:37 am #289628The size of the hole in the intake should be a fair indication of the carburetor that’s being used. Will the Fastwin with the underwater exhaust that you picked up on the runway across from the free pile at Tomahawk be next? Tubs

Tubs, you were at Tomahawk? I would have liked to meet you.
I’m hoping to work on all seven motors I picked up at Tomahawk
this winter, plus I have a Jeep CJ-7 I got this Spring to work on.Interestingly, the 14 hp Fastwin’s Tillotson carb is not stamped
with a model number on the pad.Prepare to be boarded!
August 5, 2024 at 10:26 am #289630I didn’t want to (and was raised not to) interrupt. Now I understand why you always bring a trailer. You seem to be as skilled in the haggle as you are in restoring these old motors. Learned a new approach when interested in a item. I believe it is “Are you ready to sell your (item) for $??,00 yet.” Seemed to work real well. Tubs
August 5, 2024 at 12:02 pm #289633That Fastwin had been looked over many times, by me and other’s
and I was leaving the next morning. He wanted $100, but
I don’t think I insulted with offering him $80.I ended up with two Wizard 6 hp motors, but only wanted one,
but the nice looking one was missing a prop, hence I ended up
with two, especially since the guy said it was an estate sale,
and he was volunteering to help out a widow…….
so, I guess it all works out.Prepare to be boarded!
