Hi all
My question today is about the nozzle in the carb of a Light twin 3 hp I think 1954 model 3012.
I have rebuilt a dozen of these three horse carbs but this one was the first one where the nozzle was a bear to remove, had to use pliers as it was worn that a screwdriver wouldn’t do the job anymore.
The issue was when I removed it, the nozzle ended at the flair, usually, the ones I have seen, go down another quarter inch or so. I was wondering if this was likely broke off, even though it looked smooth, not broken at the bottom of the flair? Have others seen these nozzles break off like this? I dont know why it was so hard to turn out but wondering if it would shear evenly and smoothly at the flair? did this nozzle change after 1954 or do I just have a damaged carb?
The motor will start but won’t stay running so I am assuming that this is likely the issue, starts run for a couple of seconds and then dies, choke won’t keep it going so suspect that the nozzle might be the issue.
Also if someone has a spare carb or carb top that they would part with that would be awesome, but no worries.
Thanks, Billy T
