      Hey guys,

      Does anyone have a parts diagram/parts numbers for a 1952-1953 Johnson/Evinrude 3hp motor? I am working on a ’53 Sea King 3hp, and the Gale/Sea King numbers convert to Johnson/Evinrude numbers pretty well, you just take out the dash and run the numbers together. Example 550-314 to 550314. There is one part that I am trying to confirm- the set of piston rings Gale # 550-314. I saw on iBoat forum someone had been searching for the same thing, and was advised that there was a new part number 593425. I was going to see if that indeed was on a Johnson/Evinrude 3hp piston ring set.

        Don’t know if this helps but my Johnson Common Parts list shows the same piston ring set was used on all 3hp motors from 1952 through 1964 (motor models JW-10 through JW-19).  And the piston ring set part number is shown as #378412.   I don’t have anything that shows if that number was superseded by another number.   I do have a parts list for a 1958 Gale 3hp that does show #593425 as the ring set number so the Sea King would have the same number.

          Thanks for checking. I have the rings as part 550-314 / 593425 also.  I know the 593425 is a good number for rings. I guess if it fits the 58 Gale 3 hp then you would think it would be the same for the 53.
