Hi Guys,

I’m a new-bee and I need some info about my Merc 9.9 .  I have a 1988 Merc 9.9 that is design 1, I have a carrier bearing o-ring that is leaking oil. The carrier calls for Fifty pound of torque, it’s a left hand threaded and all of my torque wrenches are rightly-tighty. How important is that torque setting? I was thinking doing it by feel. Does the torque of the carrier bearing give a preload for the gears?  I hope that you can give some help with this.
